About October Protection

Managing Director - Hal October.

Hal has formed many business relationships over the years that have endured the test of time and continue to grow. He is well known and respected throughout the security industry and was a founding member of the Security Providers Accreditation Committee and the CBD Alcohol Accord committee which sees him working closely with the liquor licensing divisions of the Christchurch City Council, Health Department and the Police Department. Hal was instrumental in having the "Get into it, Not out of it" logo put onto security staff’s uniforms in Christchurch and now many other security companies have followed. Overseeing the security requirements of the Christchurch Busker's Festival and a member of the All Blacks Security Detail are some of the many assignments, both here and overseas, that Hal has worked on. He is currently working as a security consultant for many businesses and bar owners overseeing their security and personal protection requirements.

He was operations manager for a small start-up security company, Ryan Security, in Christchurch and was instrumental in growing it from two bars to over forty bars within a year. But Hal is from the old school where honesty and integrity are paramount. And he believes that if you shake a man’s hand on a deal then that is as good as a signed agreement.

So October Protection was then formed to provide a more professional management structure where "Your Word is your Bond", and also in response to a demand from the security industry for a more professional standard of security staff. October Protection is now seen as leaders in the training and supply of professional protection staff and security consultancy. A security and protection company is only as good as its staff and here at October Protection we pride ourselves on our very experienced, highly trained, immaculately dressed operatives who have excellent communication skills and will compliment your bar, business or event.

Our Logo

Designed by Urge Design, the October Protection logo encompasses all that we stand for. The four arms, bent at the elbow, represent strength and link together to symbolise teamwork. It's circular shape, reminiscent of a ring, stands for trust and completeness. Overall, it's angular form further enforces strength while the octagonal shape complements Hal's surname - October.
